FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FOR ORGANISERS

Who are the events for?

Ignition events are for people across Australia – for individuals involved in church, curious about church, and even those who have never been to church! The events are aimed at presenting the message of Jesus in a way that is loving and sensitive to every individual’s own journey.

People may come along as individuals or come as a group from churches, youth groups or schools. People from any background, denomination or faith are welcome to attend.

Can I run an event?

Any church, Christian group or school can apply to run an Ignition event. If you’d like to see an Ignition event run in your area, chat to your youth pastor or chaplain about contacting other local churches and groups. If you need help or further information, contact us here.

Who is running the events?

You! Ignition events are being run by local churches, schools and Christian groups in different regions and denominations around Australia. Bible Society Australia (see biblesociety.org.au) and the United Evangelistic Council (see uec.asn.au) are sponsoring and coordinating the overall initiative.

What should our event look like?

Lots of different types of events can be organised – some big, others small. It could be a concert, a youth festival over several days, or even a sports night, all with Gospel talks. Our full resource pack will help you prepare for your event, and our team will work alongside you to answer any questions you may have. It’s up to you, and the churches you partner with, to decide what your event will look like!

What type of support will we receive to run our event?

The Ignition team will provide you with a pre-event evangelism course you can run with your ministry team, Gospels to give away at your event and a follow up course for people curious about Christianity – all free of charge! We can also supply a list of potential speakers who may be able to attend your event. Financial assistance (up to $2000) will be provided as necessary.

What about safety and security?

Safety and security are paramount. All events must be supervised by adults who have the appropriate Working with Children Check/Clearance issued by the relevant authority in their state or territory. No alcohol or drugs will be permitted at the events.

What about insurance?

Any insurances needed for events, such as Public Liability Insurance, are the responsibility of and will need to be organised by event hosts
